Sick today? Call us first

When you or your child gets sick, it helps to be seen by a practice that already knows your history. If you're ill, call Beckett Ridge Family Medicine during office hours.

Call (513) 860-4600 as early in the morning as you can. Our office opens at 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday. Tell our staff about your symptoms. Depending on what's going on, we may offer you a same-day appointment with an available provider, or we may tell you to go to the emergency room. Openings vary from day to day, so calling early gives you the best chance of being seen that day.

Providers do not see patients from 12 PM to 1 PM, but the office stays open and staff can still answer your call.

Common reasons for a sick visit

We see patients of all ages from West Chester Township, Liberty Township, Fairfield and nearby for everyday illnesses and injuries, including:

  • Colds, coughs and congestion
  • Flu-like illness with fever and body aches
  • Sore throat
  • Ear pain
  • Sinus pressure
  • Urinary symptoms, such as burning or needing to go often
  • Rashes and skin infections
  • Minor injuries, such as sprains, strains and small cuts
  • Stomach upset, vomiting or diarrhea

Kimberley Butts, CNP-F, has a background in emergency department and urgent care medicine, and Taylor Boontjer, FNP-C, has a background in critical care and emergency medicine. Along with Dr. Chris Diatte, they help care for patients who need to be seen quickly.

When to go to the ER or call 911

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away if you or someone with you has:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Trouble breathing or severe shortness of breath
  • Signs of a stroke, such as face drooping, arm or leg weakness, trouble speaking or sudden confusion
  • Severe bleeding that won't stop
  • Fainting or passing out
  • A serious head injury
  • A severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat
  • Sudden, severe pain
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or others. You can also call or text 988.

Don't wait to call our office in these situations.

Following up after an ER or urgent care visit

If you were seen in an emergency room or urgent care, call us to schedule a follow-up visit. Ask the ER or urgent care for copies of any tests, imaging reports and discharge instructions, and bring them with you. This helps your provider understand what was found and what treatment you received, so we can keep your care on track.

When a sick visit points to something more

Sometimes a "simple" illness keeps coming back, or symptoms like fatigue or brain fog linger for weeks after you've recovered. Let your provider know. We can look at what might be going on and, if needed, talk with you about our cognitive decline care, including care for long COVID.

Step by step

What to expect at your visit

  1. Call in the morning

Call (513) 860-4600 as early as you can. Describe your symptoms so our staff can find the right next step for you.

  2. Get a time or other direction

If a same-day slot is available and appropriate, we'll give you a time. If your symptoms sound serious, we may tell you to go to the ER.

  3. Check in and vitals

Bring your insurance card and a list of your medications. A member of our team checks your temperature, blood pressure and other vital signs.

  4. Exam and plan

Your provider asks about your symptoms, examines you and explains the likely cause and treatment plan, including any testing if needed.

  5. Follow-up

You'll know what to watch for and when to call back. Results and messages are available through the patient portal.
